Volcano Escape is an ESL board game that tasks your students with escaping a dangerous island before its volcano erupts! The problem...there's room on the escape boat for only one team. The first team to reach the win space escapes the island and wins!

  • How the Game Works

    • Ask a question to a team or to all of the teams.

    • The team that answers the question rolls the die.

    • Move that team's player token the number of spaces shown on the die.

    • If the player token stops on a Bumper Arrow, move that token accordingly.

    • The first team to help all of their player tokens to the end space, wins!

    • Select the win button then and choose the team that won and you will be taken to a victory screen.

    Team play suitable for 2-6 teams/players.

     

    System Requirements

    A computer running Windows. This game will not run on an apple IOS.

     

    Extra Features and Options

    Bumper Arrows: If a team lands on a bumper arrow, they should follow this arrow, either taking a short cut or getting sent back. These arrows are optional. There are a variety of different layouts for the arrows and can be disabled completely. They also can be set to randomize each turn.

     

    Die Options: You can set the minimum number rolled by the die to 5. You can set the maximum number rolled to 8. For a shorter game, set it to a high number and for a longer game set it to a low number.

     

    How Many Tokens Required to Win: Before starting the game, you can select how many of a team's token must reach the win space in order for that team to win. For a normal game, simply select the default '1'. For more complicated and longer games you can select a higher number. This rule is completely optional.

     

    No installation needed: Simply unzip the game and run the included exe file to play! You can even run this game straight from a USB drive.

     

    Question Prompts: There are four question prompts that you can use when playing this game.  You can change between these at will.  The game download includes directions on how to prepare prompts 2-4.


     

    • No prompt: Simply ask a question to your students without a prompt in the game.  Ask any question you like.  Using this mode takes no preperation before starting the game.

    • Text Question Prompt: Prepare text questions and answers in advance using the included text document file.  This prompt will display your prepared questions when playing.

    • Picture Prompt: This prompt displays pictures that you've prepared in advance.

    • Keyword Prompt:  This prompt displays a set of keywords that you've prepared in advance.
