About this Game

Try before you buy.

Download the free demo for this game as well as
other games from Happy Everyday English here.
Demos are timed and end after a few minutes, but
otherwise they are the same as the full game.

How to Play Pirate Treasure Hunt

  • Ask a question to your teams.  Either one by one or all at once.

  • The team that answered chooses a space on the treasure map.

  • Follow the on screen instructions for the event that happens.

  • Repeat this until all rounds have been finished.  The team that has the most gold wins!

Game Modes Available in Pirate Treasure Hunt

Team Mode Normal: Teams compete to find treasure buried on a tropical island.  The team that has the most points (gold) at the end of the game wins!

Team Mode Fixed: This plays the same as Normal mode but some events are fixed.  Certain events cannot be seen by the leading team (such as finding the fairy or the magic vacuum that sucks up gold from the other teams).  Also, the first time a team searches on the map, they WILL find some treasure.

Team Mode Crazy: Same as normal mode BUT anything can happen at anytime.  Teams also start with some gold from the beginning.  This game mode can get crazy (as the name implies) so definitely tell your students about it.  IT'S HIGHLY RECOMMENDED YOU DO NOT PLAY THIS MODE WITH YOUR STUDENTS FIRST.

System Requirements

The games available from Happy Everyday English can only be played on Windows computers.

No installation necessary.

No internet connection needed to play.

Cool Features

Randomized and animated gameplay

Built in sound that can be turned on or off

Three special game modes can be selected to customize the game to your needs.

Two to four teams can play.

Grid based map: The map is laid out on a grid to make it easier for students to communicate which spot they would like to search.

      Example: They can say: A1!  C4!  D5.

This can make the map selection process a lot easier (especially if you're playing online).

Four special map events can happen after a team answers a question and searches the map.

  1. Select a treasure chest: Choose one treasure chest and open it.  You earn gold equal to the value of treasure found.

  2. Dig up a giant diamond: The team found a mound of sand.  Perhaps a diamond is hidden underneath.  Dig to find out!

  3. Fairy: The fairy automatically multiplies the current teams gold.

  4. Pirate Vacuum: Touch the pirate vacuum to activate it.  This vacuum sucks up some gold from the other teams and gives it to the active team.

Question Prompts: There are four question prompts that you can use when playing this game.  You can change between these at will.  The game download includes directions on how to prepare prompts 2-4.

  • No prompt: Simply ask a question to your students without a prompt in the game.  Ask any question you like.  Using this mode takes no preperation before starting the game.

  • Text Question Prompt: Prepare text questions and answers in advance using the included text document file.  This prompt will display your prepared questions when playing.

  • Picture Prompt: This prompt displays pictures that you've prepared in advance.

  • Keyword Prompt:  This prompt displays a set of keywords that you've prepared in advance.
